Many of our inclined coil springs have to be ground to remove burrs after forming, especially some mechanical springs with precision requirements, customers will be specially marked on the drawings. So the question is why do skew coil springs need to be deburred?

Some are caused by the plastic deformation of the cutting process, some are the flying edge of castings and die forging parts, some are squeezed in the process of processing, and some are the residual material extruded by welding and so on. With the improvement of industrialization and automation, the precision of the parts of the inclined coil spring is also more and more high, if not to remove the burr, will cause many adverse effects. For example: rockets, missiles, aircraft on the inclined ring spring, such as not to remove the burr, the consequences are unimaginable.

The burr or falling metal powder on the inclined coil spring, once it enters the hydraulic or pneumatic system, will cause serious turbulence or non-laminar flow, will make the filter or tube clogged, so the hydraulic valve body and pneumatic parts must be removed burr. In the mechanical transmission system, due to vibration, the burr will fall off, causing the system stuck or parts damage. Sometimes, burrs directly interfere with the mechanical movement of components, especially for pistons or spool valves. In the cutting process, if the burr pad in the parts of the positioning base surface, clamping after the disturbance is not the real base contact, become point contact, seriously affect the machining accuracy. Assembly is the same, because of the existence of burr, resulting in unqualified assembly. If the inclined ring spring does not remove the burr, it will scratch the worker's hand when the workpiece is unloaded on the machine tool or when the assembly is processed. When bearing higher load, burr and sharp edge affect the fatigue strength of parts and the adhesion with paint and other protective layers, reduce the service life of parts, inclined coil spring burr also affects the appearance of parts.

Given the serious consequences above, a small burr is like a mouse droppings in a pot of porridge, which must be removed in advance.
